Meet our Manager

LinkTrans owner and manager, Clenton Lincoln, has over 20 years’ experience in automotive industries. He began repairing buses as a teenager in South Head, out of Helensville, where his parents managed the school bus contract. Since then he has had several management roles in the industry, including his own workshops, and managing a fleet of over 100 items of heavy machinery as Operations Manager for a waste management company. These roles have given sound knowledge of NZTA and LTSA rules – he has even been a certified WOF Inspector. He’s now managing the hiab truck fleet at LinkTrans.

Overdimension load

Over-dimension load

When moving products on our trucks, we often have to assist with an overdimension loads. Oversized vehicles and loads need to follow additional requirements before travelling on our roads. This is so they can fit on the road safely – for example getting around corners and fit under bridges. An overdimension vehicle or load is one that exceeds one or more of the maximum dimensions allowed for standard vehicles. To drive an overdimension vehicle or load, you need an overdimension permit. You may also have to engage one or more suitable qualified load pilots and a pilot vehicle to supervise the journey. At LinkTrans, Clenton Lincoln holds a Class 2 Pilot Licence. What is a HIAB crane truck and what is its best use?

A “hiab” is a widely used term for truck crane; a crane that is mounted on a heavy, modified truck chassis. Hiab crane trucks are commonly used in the transport industry for the loading and unloading of freight, and in the construction industry for the movement of materials.  A crane truck is a great alternative to having a crane on a work site, as a crane is limited in location and cannot be driven on a public road. Hiab crane trucks can give a lift at one work site and then be driven to other sites in the same day.
